Artist Statement
As I became more educated about the artefacts and intrigued by the honesty and artistry employed in the restoration process, I came to appreciate that their fascination and beauty lay not only in their discovery, their endurance, age and origin, but also in their fragility, their flaws and imperfections. My aim was to create a series of drawings and paintings based on the pieces in the collection that particularly resonated with me.
From the Museo Municipal de Valdepeñas, an exhibition of drawings, paintings and monoprints in response to one of Spain’s finest collections of Iberian relics.
